Key Points and Objectives of the Activity: To encourage international students to actively continue learning Mandarin, enhance their language expression, listening and speaking skills, and develop a sense of linguistic rhythm, the Office of International Affairs is organizing the Mandarin Reading Contest.Through this activity, students can practice Mandarin in a lively and relaxed atmosphere,showcase their learningachievements, boost motivation, fosterapositivelanguage-learning environment, and further strengthen their social adaptability and competitiveness in the workplace.
Features of the Activity and Implementation Details: In this reading competition, each student draws one of three designated articles after registration to serve as their contest piece, testing both their adaptability and language skills. Each participant is allotted six minutes for reading, with a reminder bell at five minutes and mandatory conclusion at six minutes to ensure fairness and smooth flow. Evaluation covers five aspects—intonation, articulation in Chinese, reading technique, rhythm and pauses, and stage presence—totaling 100 points. In case of a tie, scores are compared in the order of these criteria; if still equal, judges will deliberate to determine the ranking. The event is carefully organized with clear rules, combining fairness and professionalism while enhancing students’ reading ability and stage performance.
