June 19-21, 2016 THE Asia University Summit
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) celebrated its 25th. anniversary, collaborated with Times Higher Education (THE) to held THE Asia University Summit on 19-21 Jun. 2016. Over 30 presidents from over 15 nations being speakers, and over 260 delegates from over 25 countries participated in this forum to have discussion over how Asia’s universities' changes helped to motivate global university's landscape. The purpose was to bring forth innovations on policy making as well as development in the long run.
Professor Ching-Kuan Liu, President for KMU, Professor Hsiu-Hung Wang, Vice President,and Vice Dean for Office of Global Affairs, Fang-Rong Chang, represented KMU to attend THE Asia University Summit on June 19 to 21, 2016 in order to have more stimulations for our university's future development from this great event.
In the Summit, it was pointed out that education should be regarded as long-term investment. In face with economic recession among the western countries, Asian University's ranking gradually amounted to a higher place and showed the trend to take over the domain of higher education. As the world moves toward applications based on cross-disciplines, Higher Educations must face the challenge and tackle with the variety. Universities no longer played the role of inputting knowledge, but the guide to lead student to the world of innovation andequippedthem with such skills.
