Delegations from partner school, University of Santo Tomas (UST) visited our university. Prof. Maria Lourdes D. Maglinao, Assistant Dean for Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and Fr. Angel Fr. Angel A. Aparicio – REGENT led 7 delegations from UST to visit our College of Medicine and affiliated hospital. The multiple purposes of their visit are intended for the upgration of faculty's quality and facilities. The major part of their visit targeted at the followings such as KMU’s medical education, discussion of curricular innovation and faculty development program, benchmarking KMU’s physical facilities, e.g. simulation laboratory, and discussions over clerkship rotation to KMU’s affiliated hospital. Henceforth, the delegations also requested for understanding our clinical programs.
On Nov. 24, 2016, delegations visited our President Ching-Kuan Liu and learnt that one UST’s graduate student was currently exchanged to KMU’s Graduate Institute of Natural Products for three months.
On the forum at College of Medicine, representatives from relevant departments at College of Medicine and Department of Clinical Education and Training offered a full picture for the delegations from UST. The attendees from both universities queries regarding the student exchange program as well as different educated systems for training medical students at post graduate year.
Meanwhile, UST delegations proposed those possibilities of sending student for exchange program on clerkship rotation and suggested that the local students learnt Chinese because a large number of parents sent their kids to local Chinese High Schools in Manila. Therefore, language barrier would not be a problem for UST students, for large quantities of them could read and write in Chinese.
On Nov. 25, 2016, UST delegations visited Department of Clinical Education and Training. They visited Surgical Skill Center at Clinical Skill Center. Dr. Ching-Ju Shen demonstrated Simulation Center’s facilities such as the function of sim-mother, sim-man and sim-baby to UST guests. The visit quite offered them a blue for future school development on upgrading their facilities.
