KMU signed MoU on Academic Cooperation with Regents of the University of Minnesota, U.S.A. on 19th February 2019

On 19th February 2019, Prof. Meredith McQuaid, the Associate Vice President and Dean of Global Programs and Strategy Alliance, University of Minnesota Twin Cities(UMN), led the 2 other delegates from UMN--Prof. Connie White Delaney,

Dean of School of Nursing, and Prof. Carolyn M. Porta, Director of Global Health, School of Nursing--to visit KMU together.  On behalf of both universities, Prof. Yuh-Jyh Jong, the President of Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU), and Prof. Meredith McQuaid signed the MoU on Academic Cooperation at the same time to open a new collaborative page between KMU and MU.

The University of Minnesota is one of America's Public Ivy Universities, which refers to top public universities in the United States capable of providing a collegiate experience comparable with the Ivy League.  While the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (UMN) is the oldest and largest campus and the flagship institution of the University of Minnesota system.

Being an alumna of UMN, our Vice President for Global Affairs, Prof. Kuei-Min Chen, was awarded “Distinguished Leadership Award for Internationals” last October by University of Minnesota Alumni Association to recognize her outstanding achievement and leadership.  This accelerates and brings about the MoU signing ceremony.

The same as UMN in America, KMU also plays a very important role in promoting Taiwan’s healthcare system.  Both universities have common fields in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Public Health, and Biological Sciences.  Both universities could share their experience in education and research to benefit the people.   We do look forwards to more exchange activities between two universities.
