1. Purpose：

To encourage international students to actively continue learning Mandarin, enhance their language expression, listening and speaking skills, and develop a sense of linguistic rhythm, the Office of International Affairs is organizing the Mandarin Reading Contest. Through this activity, students can practice Mandarin in a lively and relaxed atmosphere, showcase their learning achievements, boost motivation, foster a positive language-learning environment, and further strengthen their social adaptability and competitiveness in the workplace.

2. Organizer：Student Exchange Division, Office of Global Affairs, Kaohsiung Medical University

3. Eligibility：International students of KMU whose native language is not Chinese.

4. Date & Time：December 17, 2025 (Wednesday), 14:30–17:00

5. Venue：IR401, International Academic Research Building

6. Competition Rules：

•  On the day of the contest, participating students will draw ONE text from the following three selections to use as their competition piece for the stage reading.

      Selection 1: Let's Wear a Hat! (大家一起戴帽子!)

      Selection 2: The Frog at the Bottom of the Well (井底之蛙)

      Selection 3: The City Mouse and the Country Mouse (城市老鼠和鄉下老鼠)

• Reading Time Limit: The reading time for each contestant is 6 minutes. A single reminder bell will sound at the 5-minute mark. When the 6-minute limit is reached, the contestant must end their reading and conclude their turn, regardless of whether they have finished the text. The next participant will then be called to the stage.
• Evaluation criteria include: Pronunciation & Intonation, Articulation & Diction, Reading Technique, Rhythm & Pauses, and Stage Presence & Expressiveness. Total score: 100 points.
• In case of a tie, rankings will be determined in the order of the above criteria. If scores remain tied, the judges will deliberate to decide the final ranking.

• First Prize (1 winner): NT$2,000 gift voucher (9X9 Stationery)
• Second Prize (1 winner): NT$1,500 gift voucher (9X9 Stationery)
• Third Prize (1 winner): NT$1,000 gift voucher (9X9 Stationery)
