Experts gathered and exchanged ideas at a Forum at Kaohsiung Medical University to achieve Universal Health for All on World Health Day
Kaohsiung Medical University held the "World Health Day Forum: Health for All" forum on the afternoon of 21st April 2023. The forum discussed topics including universal health coverage, emergency response mechanisms for public health crises, health security, and the indispensable role of healthcare workers in the healthcare system. Invited speakers included Chung-Liang Shih, Director of the National Health Insurance Administration from the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), Yi-Chun Luo, Deputy Director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Pau-Chung Chen, Director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences at National Health Research, Chii-Jeng Lin, Chairman of Joint Commission of Taiwan (JCT), and Ya-Wen Chiu, Director of Center for Global Health and Security Studies, Kaohsiung Medical University. They delivered speeches on topics including "How has Taiwan's National Health Insurance become a model for universal health coverage?", "Towards the post-pandemic era: COVID-19 prevention policies and prospects", "Making a future for public health professionals - a discussion on Asia's first Public Health Act", "The world's talent MIT - the current situation and development of overseas medical personnel training", and "Challenges and strategies for responding to global public health emergencies and health security". The forum aimed to provide a platform for reflection on Taiwan's healthcare system from different perspectives, from domestic policies to international trends. Through the World Health Day Forum at Kaohsiung Medical University, it is hoped that the global perspective of the faculty and students in the field of health can be enhanced, making Kaohsiung Medical University a top-notch medical university with social influence.
