Kaohsiung Medical University signed Memorandum of Understanding with Charles Darwin University, Australia

Bravo! Another partner school is being constructed with Charles Darwin University (CDU). On May 11, 2016, Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Sue Carthew and Professor Douglas Paton took courtesy visit to Kaohsiung Medical University. Before a formal memorandum of understanding was drafted, scholars from CDU and KMU had had 4 years research collaborative project in progress on topic of natural disaster prevention. In an attempt to sustain a long-term partnership, heads from both universities came to a consensus to move a step forward to construct partnership. CDU’s Faculty of Health Sciences covers a wide variety of disciplines such as Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Psychology, Pharmacy and Welfare and Social Work. On the signing ceremony, Vice PresidentHsiu-Hung Wangsuggested we might foresee more active communication going on between CDU and KMU, and hopefully the collaboration would not be restricted to research collaboration between faculty members but also reach student exchange program. Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Carthew suggested that as a newly established university that many infrastructure is still on the way, the scale of the universities is growing and many organizations are ready to set up to come into a mature stage in order to encompass more students and more research. Thanks to geographical similarities between CDU and KMU, it is quite significant that both could build partnerships. They were also dedicated to Dengue Fever’s study to find cure for such infectious disease, as Prof. Carthew suggested. With so much in common, she believed that more collaborations would come into being in the future.
